TOP 5 ORGANIZING TIPS TO HELP YOU GET STARTED
1. TAKE EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CLOSET
Its very hard to organize if you have a bunch of stuff jammed in there!
2. SEPARATE CLOTHES INTO CATEGORIES
I always pair tops, bottoms and dresses together. Then I make sub-categories in each, by length, color and season. You may not have enough space to have everything hung at the same time, so stick with one season.
3. BUY ALL THE SAME HANGERS
Nothing is worse than trying to organize with mismatched hangers. Get rid of all wire and dry cleaner hangers and if you do not want to invest in the slim hangers, buy all one color plastic hangers (trust me, it makes a difference).
4. HANG EVERYTHING IN THE SAME DIRECTION
By doing this, clothes hang flat and don’t get bunched on something hanging in the opposite direction. You will be surprised by what a difference this makes. When something has buttons or zippers, button or zip it! I know its annoying, but it will allow the garment to hang flat.
5. IF YOU HAVEN’T WORN IT IN OVER A YEAR, L.I.G!
Letting things go or purging, is one of the hardest things for people to do and I must admit, I am recovering from being a bit of a clothes hoarder myself lol. But honestly, let it go! Clear your space, clear the energy and donate it to someone less fortunate. Organizations like Dress for Success are great place to donate lightly worn clothing.
